Sony are scared of the Asus Eee PC, surely there is space for Sony though!

Friday, February 29th, 2008

asus_eeepc
Oh yes it is official and Sony are scared of the Asus Eee PC, Sony do fear the cheap laptop if it does well. Senior VP with Sony US’ IT products operation Mike Abary told CNET “If [Asus’ Eee PC] starts to do well, we are all in trouble,”

“That’s just a race to the bottom… if mainstream buyers buy it then whoa…” His fears include letting consumers know what they can do computationally on a small and cheap machines and that they will not pay out for expensive upgrades that have the latest processors, screen technology and graphics.

Come on Sony behave there is a massive market out there and there are many ways you can move into the world of producing cheap laptops and you know it.
Consumers desire for upgrades and higher performance it is a fact, at the end of the day why blame Asus seeing as laptop prices are hitting the lower price brackets than ever before anyway. Oh yes and there is the CloudBook which is cheap as well.

The Eee PC comes in at around £220 and personally I think Sony has room for another cheap laptop for our consumers.

The question has been raised will Netflix be able to keep with the demand in order to keep its subscribers for the Blu-ray format.

Netflix have said that their subscriber account would be 3% higher due to price increases by Blockbuster and other online advertising rates. He did hint that there could be a raise in prices for the fees for monthly online subscribers.

“It seems apparent that content will cost us more,” Netflix, CFO, Barry McCarthy said. “Whether we raise prices will be entirely a function of churn, subscriber acquisition costs and gross margins.”

Featuring a deep, cinematic single-player experience loaded with adventure and dark humor, the game delivers the series trademark sandbox gameplay in a universe where nearly everything is destructible.

The heart of DICE’s multiplayer games is the frenetic, unpredictable nature of the sandbox experience, where anything could happen at any moment, and that’s what we’re bringing to the core of Battlefield: Bad Company’s single-player campaign, said Karl Magnus Troedsson, senior producer at DICE. In a world that’s 90 percent destructible, the gameplay possibilities are infinite - the battlefield is always changing, forcing players, teammates, and enemies to react accordingly. Gamers will have total freedom to adapt to and tackle challenges in creative Battlefield-style ways.

Something recently revealed by Electronic Arts is pretty interesting really, the thing that sticks out the most is the release date for the game Dead Space and hence being a Halloween release it has the October 31st release date stamped on it. It will be released on the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony PS3.

“Survival horror is about experiencing a terrifying, and deeply personal fiction,” said Executive Producer Glen Schofield.

“Dead Space is being developed as a single-player thriller that delivers the chilling, claustrophobic feeling of being isolated in a dark environment, while being stalked by some truly horrific enemies. Halloween is the perfect time for EA to deliver the fear and anxiety that will keep survival horror fans up playing all night.”

The second thing that sticks out is the question “Will Dead Space game be the biggest Halloween release?
